Resilience in the workplace
BodyWise Institute delivers workplace wellbeing programs that support emotional regulation, stress management and professional resilience in real-world contexts.
Our programs move beyond traditional stress management by addressing the nervous system - helping individuals understand how stress shows up in the body and how to regulate it effectively.
Why nervous system–informed resilience matters
Workplace stress and burnout are now recognised as significant organisational risks across Australia. Burnout arises from chronic, unmanaged workplace stress and manifests as emotional exhaustion, reduced professional effectiveness and disengagement from work. When employees operate in prolonged states of stress, the nervous system remains in a heightened “fight-or-flight” response, impairing cognitive performance, emotional regulation and decision-making.
This not only affects individual wellbeing but also organisational outcomes such as productivity, collaboration, safety and retention. Nervous system-informed resilience approaches such as mindfulness, body awareness and stress-regulation practices help employees move out of chronic stress responses and restore physiological balance. This enables clearer thinking, better communication and improved capacity to respond to pressure in healthy and sustainable ways.
The economic impact of burnout and poor workplace mental health in Australia is substantial. Estimates suggest workplace burnout costs Australian businesses around $14 billion annually in absenteeism, turnover and lost productivity, while broader workplace burnout and disengagement may cost organisations up to $39 billion each year. More broadly, untreated mental health conditions cost employers approximately $10.9 billion annually, with presenteeism (employees working while unwell and performing below capacity) representing a major proportion of these losses.
Burnout is widespread, with around 61% of Australian workers reporting symptoms, and sectors with high workload and emotional demand, including education, government/public administration, and mining/resource industries, face particular challenges related to fatigue, psychological injury claims and workforce retention.*
Investing in nervous system-informed resilience strategies is not only a wellbeing initiative but a sound economic decision that supports healthier employees, safer workplaces and more sustainable organisational performance.
Programs
BodyWise Institute delivers resilience and regulation programs designed for high-pressure environments where focus, communication and wellbeing directly impact performance, safety and sustainability.
Our programs are tailored for different sectors while drawing on the same evidence-informed principles of nervous system regulation, stress physiology and sustainable resilience.
'Resilience on Site'
Regulation, safety & sustainable performance
Resilience on Site is designed specifically for mining, construction and other operational environments where fatigue, pressure and complex decision-making are part of daily work.
